Originally from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Dew and her family migrated to New Zealand in late 2002 where they settled in rural Northland while Dew and her sister completed their high school education at Okaihau College. The shift from a bustling metropolis to a rural sheep-filled countryside was challenging, but Dew believes this was the best introduction to New Zealand she could have hoped for – giving her an appreciation of the challenges which new migrants face as well as insight into the complexities of New Zealand's political and socio-economic environment. Having lived here for over a decade, Dew feels lucky to be able to call New Zealand home.

In 2013 Dew achieved her childhood dream of becoming a lawyer, being awarded a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours from the University of Waikato - along the way receiving several scholarships and becoming a law tutor. She was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand the same year and has joined McLeod & Associates as a Solicitor.

Outside of work, Dew is an ardent supporter of the Chiefs Super-15 Rugby Team and enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends as well as soaking up New Zealand’s beautiful nature. Her favourite getaway is Papamoa, in the Bay of Plenty.
