Harpreet and Sarabjeet hail from New Delhi, India, where Harpreet was a housewife and Sarabjeet had his own cement trading business.

Harpreet holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Delhi and her husband Sarabjeet has a Master of Arts majoring in English and History from the Himachal Pradesh University.

Having seen New Zealand in Bollywood movies, the couple decided to move here with their then 4-year-old son, Pritham Chawla. "We had the vision that New Zealand was the purest country and the most peaceful nation in the world," says Sarabjeet.

The pair came to New Zealand to study. However, after they arrived in New Zealand, Harpreet and Sarabjeet had a bad experience with an Indian immigration lawyer and their visa was initially denied. They then turned to McLeod & Associates.

"Richard and the team were very co-operative," says Harpreet, "and helped us get a two-year work visa and then our permanent residence was issued in almost four months."

Anna Ulyanova used to live in Moscow where she finished studying English and German at the Moscow Academy of Natalya Nesterova. She worked as a sales manager in a sport club and after that as director of a family company.

As she had been to England before, Anna was thinking that New Zealand would be something like England. "When I came here, I found out that it was much better. People are very nice and friendly. The best thing I like here is the weather," she says. "I have made a lot of friends from different cultures and have found it very interesting talking with them and comparing our countries"
Anna entered the English Language Academy in Auckland to improve her English language and then began an Introduction Certificate in Business at Unitec in Auckland.
"The study part was different for me because, here it's mostly self-study but in Russia it's not," says Anna. "The culture and life style is very different. People in New Zealand prefer an active way of life. They spend a lot of time out, dine out and travel a lot within the country. That is when I decided to travel too."

Anna went to the South Island, to Queenstown, Christchurch, Picton, Kaikora and Wellington

Harpreet successfully completed her Masters in Professional Business Studies from the Auckland University of Technology in October 2008. She's now the store manager at an Auckland Hell Pizza store, where she and Sarabjeet enjoy working together.

Harpreet's plan for the future is to work in the banking industry and Sarabjeet wants to join the New Zealand Police.

"Anybody moving to New Zealand needs the right advice," recommends Harpreet.

"New Zealand is a country of vast opportunities but you need a guide who will put you in the right direction."
